On June 16, 2022, SCO Deputy Secretary General G.S.Logvinov, on behalf of SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, spoke at the session “New SCO Business Agenda in Modern Conditions” within the framework of the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the SCO Secretariat reports.

The session was moderated by the Chairman of the Russian part of the Business Council of the organization, the President of the CCI of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin.

There is a significant increase in interest in the SCO issues, he noted. Many business representatives believe that it is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that will be able to provide them with opportunities for growth and development in the current difficult conditions.

The discussion was also attended by Professor of the Taihe Institute, SCO Secretary General in 2016-2018 R.K.Alimov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for SCO Affairs B.M.Khakimov, Director General of Expocentre JSC A.G.Vyalkin, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.K.Jasimov, Director General of Russian Railways Logistics JSC D.I.Murev, Chief Banker of VEB.RF S.A.Storchak.

In his speech, Katyrin noted that today the world is under pressure from geopolitical challenges and the transformation of the traditional world economic order. In the current geopolitical and economic realities, business needs clear and predictable rules of the game. The new SCO business agenda in modern conditions is being implemented today, concluded the President of the CCI of the Russian Federation.

Grigory Logvinov, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, speaking about the work of the SCO, emphasized that the organization should promptly develop answers to controversial issues of our time.

“Now the time has come to convert the accumulated potential of economic partnership into concrete economic projects. In this regard, a great responsibility falls on the non-governmental structures of the SCO financial and economic profile — the Business Council and the Interbank Association. Serious work is to be done in terms of filling the project component of the Organization’s agenda, as well as issues of settlements in national currencies. The latter direction obviously acquires special significance in modern conditions. We also consider it important to establish feedback “state-business-state” through these structures to strengthen and intensify trade, economic and investment cooperation. The documentation base necessary for this has already been created”, Logvinov noted.
