The 21st meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO Member States was held

On November 1, 2022, the twenty-first meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO Member States was held via videoconference chaired by the Chinese side.

It was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India S.Jaishankar, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.A.Smailov, the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic A.U.Zhaparov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan B. B. Zardari, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation M. V. Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan K. Rasulzoda and Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. N. Aripov.

The meeting was chaired by Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang.

The meeting was attended by SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure R.E.Mirzaev, Chairman of the Board of the SCO Business Council D.A.Vakhabov, Chairman of the Council of the SCO Interbank Association A.K.Mirsoatov, high representatives of the observer states under SCO: Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus R.A. Golovchenko, First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran M. Mokhber, Prime Minister of Mongolia L. Oyuun-Erdene, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan H. Geldimyradov as a guest of the presiding side, as well as Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission of the United Nations for Asia and the Pacific A.S. Alishakhbana, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission M.V. Myasnikovich, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization H. Noziri, Deputy Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia Chi Fan, Deputy Pre Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States I.T. Nematov.

The heads of delegations of the SCO member states exchanged views on key issues of world and regional development, discussed priority measures to strengthen trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the SCO.

The next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO Member States will be held in 2023 in the Kyrgyz Republic.

On November 2, 2022, the SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Fariz Mehdavi, at the SCO Secretariat, the organization’s Telegram channel reports.

The Secretary General briefly informed about the key areas of cooperation within the Organization, its principles and goals, as well as the results of the September meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States in Samarkand.

Issues of expanding the geography of the Organization through new SCO dialogue partners, as well as their interaction with member states, were touched upon. In particular, according to the Ambassador, the SCO successfully manages to unite a significant number of countries representing diverse cultural and historical traditions, religions, at different levels of economic development and adhering to different political positions.

On the same day, Zhang Ming met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic to the People’s Republic of China Muhammad Hassein Qaddam.

The Secretary General informed the Ambassador about the expansion of the Organization and about the main results of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States in Samarkand.

The Ambassador confirmed his country’s desire to join the SCO as a dialogue partner.

It was agreed to maintain regular contacts between the SCO Secretariat and the SAR Embassy in China.

On November 3, 2022, the SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to the People’s Republic of China Marcos Galvao at the SCO Secretariat.

The Secretary General informed the Ambassador about the activities and structure of the SCO, and he also spoke about the prospects for further expansion of the Organization.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the information provided and highly appreciated the work of the SCO Secretariat. The interlocutors agreed to maintain contacts between the SCO Secretariat and the Brazilian Embassy.
