Iran views membership in BRICS and the SCO, as well as cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union, as tools for creating a fair economic order capable of weakening Western dominance over global economic zones, stated Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali.
“We have repeatedly emphasized that Iran views membership and active participation in mechanisms such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union as practical tools for creating a multipolar and fair economic order. It can, in various ways, weaken Western dominance over global economic zones,” the diplomat said in an interview with NEWS.ru.
Jalali emphasized that in the financial sector, member countries of the associations are already developing specific measures, including the use of national currencies in trade, integration into independent payment systems, including BRICS Pay, and the gradual integration of non-Western banks.
“Member countries of the organizations, with the participation of other countries of the Global South, can strengthen cooperation in areas such as industry, energy, trade, and logistics. This could include the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor, the conclusion of free and preferential trade agreements, the implementation of joint projects in oil, gas, and petrochemicals, as well as technology transfer and investment,” he concluded.
