
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the organization’s priority areas of activity with SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
“The in-depth discussion focused on priority issues of the SCO’s activities in light of the situation unfolding in the region and globally,” the ministry said in a statement following the meeting between Lavrov and Yermekbayev.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties emphasized the importance of developing cooperation within the organization in the current context as the foundation for creating a broad space of reliable, equal security and sustainable growth in Eurasia.
“Practical tasks for further advancing the SCO’s comprehensive modernization process in light of current geopolitical realities were discussed, as well as the substantive content of the organization’s upcoming summit in Kyrgyzstan, which will be held under the sign of its 25th anniversary,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
