Degtyarev: Russia will host ten events in ten sports at the SCO Games.

Russia will host 10 events in 10 sports as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summer Games, announced Russian Sports Minister and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Mikhail Degtyarev.

On Friday, a summit of heads of sports ministries and agencies from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. Degtyarev previously announced that the 2026 SCO Games would be held in Russia. “At the meeting, we approved a working group on sports. This is a permanent body that will coordinate all sporting activities. The regulations for the SCO Games are also ready. Competitions will be held throughout the year in various countries. Russia will host 10 events in 10 sports. We also agreed that our teams will participate in the Nomad Games, which will be held here in Kyrgyzstan at the end of the summer. We are preparing the Russian team: more than 250 people will come to the Games,” Degtyarev wrote on Telegram.

“The Kyrgyz side proposed creating a unified SCO calendar similar to our Russian ECP. We supported this idea so that there would be a unified calendar for all countries. Cooperation with countries of the Global South is bearing fruit. Our colleagues support us during votes in various international organizations. This is all part of sports diplomacy, which we are pursuing at the direction of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” the minister concluded.
