The first meeting of the industry ministers of the SCO member states was held in Dushanbe

On July 16, the first meeting of the ministers of industry of the SCO member states was held in the format of a videoconference under the chairmanship of the Tajik side.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the current state, prospects and initiatives of cooperation between the SCO member states in the field of industry, declaring their readiness to promote sustainable economic development and improve the standard of living of the population. The agenda of the meeting included issues covering the current state and prospects of cooperation.

His Deputy Sherali Jonon addressed the participants of the first meeting of industry ministers with a welcoming speech on behalf of the SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov.

He pointed out the importance of establishing cooperation in the industrial sphere, considering the first meeting of the ministers of industry of the SCO member states as another favorable opportunity for a better presentation of the real potential for further trade and economic cooperation and investment activities between the countries of the SCO region.

“Our space has a huge untapped potential in this industry for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. The SCO secretariat is ready to provide assistance within its competence in order to promote this issue, ” the message of the Secretary General said.

The participants noted that the coordination of the SCO member states is especially necessary against the background of the pandemic.

At the meeting, the Uzbek side presented for consideration a draft program to stimulate industrial cooperation between the business circles of the SCO member states.

The purpose of this initiative is to create favorable conditions for the development of cooperative ties between the business circles of the SCO member states in industry, as well as the formation of a multilateral platform for establishing their interaction to establish mutually beneficial, long – term, stable, regular industrial cooperation in the SCO space.

The parties noted the need to continue working together with the SCO Secretariat to establish coordinated and effective cooperation between the SCO member states in the field of industry with the involvement of representatives of government agencies, business circles, research and other organizations to find new ways of cooperation in the field of industry.

In addition, it is necessary to expand and deepen cooperation in financial, investment, industrial, transport, energy, agricultural and other areas, including through the development and implementation of joint programs and projects, which meets the interests of sustainable socio-economic development in the Rostov region.

The participants of the first ministerial meeting noted that currently the member states have a strong production base and high scientific and technical potential, which makes it possible for the successful implementation of projects in the field of industry.

They pointed out the importance of creating a new mechanism for the Meeting of Ministers of Industry of the SCO member states. In this regard, it was decided to continue joint work on establishing coordinated and effective cooperation between the SCO member states in the field of industry.
