The SCO mission stated that the referendum in Kazakhstan was held according to all the rules.

The referendum in Kazakhstan complied with legal requirements, with no violations recorded, stated Oleg Kopylov, head of the SCO mission and Deputy Secretary-General.

“The mission confirms that the national referendum on the adoption of a new constitution in the Republic of Kazakhstan complied with the requirements of Kazakhstan’s electoral legislation and the country’s international obligations. The mission did not record any violations of national legislation that could call into question the legitimacy of the referendum or influence its results,” Kopylov said at a briefing.
